So, you are reading this post because you are looking to start a website or blog. So what I will do is go through the steps that I took to set up my Website Blog
Below are the steps you will need to take to build your Website/Blog
- Decide on your niche.
- Choose a blog name and register your domain name
- Buy web hosting – I use Bluehost
- Install WordPress (done for you automatically by Bluehost!)
Step 1 – Deciding your Niche
The first step in setting up your Blog is deciding on what you are going to blog about. Is it for a particular niche such as Marketing, Traveling, Making Money, Fashion, News or a Mixture of everything?
Step 2 – Choosing your blog name and registering your domain name.
Probably the hardest part in setting up a website or blog is coming up with the right name, because not only does it have to be rememberable but describe what you do and be good for SEO as well.
There are websites out there to help you like Namemesh.com. Which combines words that relate to your business to come up with the perfect name.
It even tells you if the domain name (i.e. that website address) is available AND the social media accounts under that name.
It’s a massive time saver!
Once you have decided on a name then the next step is purchasing your domain name.
I host my site with Bluehost and I got a FREE domain name. Click here if you would like to sign up with Bluehost
Step 3 – Buying Web Hosting.
Depending on who you sign up with there will be different ways in purchasing and setting up your hosting.
I personally use Bluehost as it was a good price and came with a FREE domain name.
I did host another site I have with a different provider which offered a good service but when I was shopping around found Bluehost offered a similar service but cheaper.
Don’t get me wrong I had questions, but I used their online chat system and they answered all my questions.
The other great thing with them apart from there price is they offer a 30-day money-back guarantee if you are not happy with their service!
As I use Bluehost I will go through the steps for setting up with them
Step 3a – Click Get Started (Green Button)
Step 3b – Choose your plan (I went with choice Plus)
Step 3c – Create your domain name for your Website
Step 3d – Create your account
Step 4 – Installing and setting up WordPress with Bluehost
So, the advantage of hosting with Bluehost is that Bluehost installs WordPress automatically upon the completion of signing up for an account. You don’t need to worry about finding the correct version of WordPress, Bluehost always installs the latest version so you have the most recent features available for your website. Bluehost has been the #1 recommended WordPress hosting provider since 2005 and we take pride in our customer service and expertise.
Now you have WordPress installed and have set up your username and passwords WordPress will prompt you to select a theme. So from this point, I will finish for now and leave you to have a look at the different themes and get used to the WordPress Platform.
